Corepoint Health Publishes White Paper by DLC Technology Solutions Describing the Integration Leverage Created at Larchmont Imaging Associates
August 4, 2011 – Frisco, Texas – Larchmont Imaging Associates, an imaging practice located in Hainesport, New Jersey with four facilities serving Burlington County, has utilized Corepoint Integration Engine as a strategic platform for its integration strategy, improving physician relationships and enhancing the patient experience. Key highlights are outlined in a recent white paper entitled "The Role of Integration in Radiology: Moving from Necessity to Leverage."
Three years ago, Larchmont Imaging was in the process of replacing their radiology information system (Radiology Information System (RIS) is the main application in an imaging center or radiology department. RIS is used by to store, manipulate and distribute patient radiological data and imagery. RIS are used for patient scheduling, tracking, and imag...) to improve workflow and accommodate the more recent data sharing expectations of the industry when they decided to reevaluate their integration engine solution.
Initial integration challenges required a solution that would integrate the new RIS system with a Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS) are devoted to the storage, retrieval, distribution, and presentation of images. The medical images are stored in an independent format, most commonly DICOM. Synonyms: Picture Archiving Communication Sys... system while delegating patient information into two separate workflows and integrating to other external systems such as a mammography tracking system and the local health information exchange (Health Information Exchange (HIE) focuses on the mobilization of healthcare information electronically across organizations within a region or community. HIE provides the capability to electronically move clinical information between disparate health...).
Robert Walsh, director of professional services for DLC Technology Solutions, Inc., has been closely involved with Larchmont Imaging’s workflow over the last decade and was primarily responsible for the decision to implement Corepoint Integration Engine. "Integration and interoperability are something every radiology facility should be utilizing, adding the flexibility and adaptability to address the rapidly changing requirements and initiatives within the healthcare marketplace," explained Walsh.
Walsh has been delighted with the opportunities Larchmont Imaging has been able to take advantage of using Corepoint Health’s interface engine. "Using Corepoint Integration Engine allowed Larchmont Imaging Associates to leverage their application environment in positive – anticipated and unanticipated – ways. Strategically, this has created added value in their patient care workflows, as well as their physician relationships and, ultimately, the bottom line," explained Walsh.
"Having a modern integration solution gives you the flexibility to manage the interfaces for the integration projects while creating leverage to realize even higher value initiatives and goals, using less time and saving money." Leveraging an integrated environment is a strategic differentiator and is being taken advantage of by leaders in the radiology industry, like Walsh. "IT infrastructure is really a strategic platform," said Walsh. "The projects we were able to complete, in the amount of time we spent, would not even have been considered if it weren’t for the robust and flexible solutions Corepoint Health offers."
"It is exciting to see our customers make the most of their integration environment by using Corepoint Integration Engine as a foundational platform in their interoperability and workflow strategy," explained Sonal Patel, Vice President of Client Services for Corepoint Health. "We are proud to be a key enabler of their strategic and operational objectives. It is this type of integration leverage that brings the radiology workflows together productively for patients, physicians, and radiology business managers."
